We have a very talented (vocal) Chancel Choir that sings weekly from September through May under the gifted direction of Nancy Roberts. The choir enjoys singing a variety of music from traditional to contemporary styles including gospel and world music. New members are always welcome-choir rehearsal is in the sanctuary from 9:00-10:15 on Sunday mornings.
Sacred Dance Choirs include both children and adults. Sacred Dance, along with our Children's Choir, are led by the very talented JoAnn Fryer. They perform throughout the year. Rehearsals are announced when performance dates are scheduled. New members are always welcome.
Our Handbell Choir, under the direction of Lynne McMahon, plays for us primarily during the Christmas and Easter seasons and is a wonderful addition to those worship services. They always welcome new ringers to join! . They are a wonderful addition to our worship services.
During the summer when choir is not in session, our Sunday service is enriched by solos, duets and instrumentals by church members and friends of the church. In addition to our worship service music, our church hosts many concerts by many different groups, such as Seacoast Wind Ensemble and the York Singers, and provides a place for local teachers to hold their violin and piano recitals. Our Ogunquit facility is home to the "Summer Concert Series" which runs during July and August. The York-Ogunquit United Methodist Church family is committed to making music an essential part of our worship service. "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High, to declare your steadfast love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the lute and harp, to the melody of the lyre. For you. O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy." (Psalm 92:1-4)
