CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Children's Sunday School

Child care is provided in our nursery/toddler room from 9:30 - 10:30 and again from 11:00 - 12:00 for ages newborn to 3 years old.

Our Sunday school program serves approximately 30 families and 70 children in 7 classes, ranging from nursery child care to adult discussion groups. Many dedicated adults and teens enthusiastically teach Sunday school and participate in other educational programs within the church

Sunday school provides classes, September through June, for children and youth of all ages. The children (ages 4 - grade 5) first go to the first 15 minutes of the service with their families. Following the children's message, they leave to attend their appropriate classes until 10:45. Parents have an opportunity to fellowship after worship and before Sunday school concludes.

During the summer months, preschool and elementary students meet together for a "One-Room Sunday School" that is thematically based and includes stories, music and crafts.

Youth and Adult Sunday School

Sunday school classes are held for middle school and high school students and adults from 11:00 - 12:00. Middle schoolers are designing their curriculum from a choice 3-4 Biblical study books and trying to relate their studies to their lives. High schoolers "crawl" into the Bible with creative Bible studies, explore worship through field trips to other churches and participation in the sermon talk-back sessions held monthly by the pastor. One of our adult classes provides a traditional approach to Bible study, while the other provides a forum for discussing the application of Biblical concepts to current events.

The Church Library

The church library, located in the parlor, is a revolving collection of both religious and secular materials gathered over the years. Included in the collection are a number of video resources. The library is open Sundays and during church office hours. You are welcome to check out items by removing the card from the pocket, signing and dating it and leaving the card on the counter.

Vacation Bible School

Wesley United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Framingham jointly sponsor our Vacation Bible School program. We work together to provide a new adventure each year in which children and teens can discover Biblical truths and God's constant love. We endeavor to create an environment in which all feel welcome.

Classes are grouped according to age from preschool through Middle School. The inclusion of a Middle School "graduate" class and development of high school students to assist and guide classes provide unique opportunities for teens to nurture faith.

Program highlights include:

  • Daily skit by VBS players
  • Bible Storyteller
  • Music program
  • Creative arts and crafts
  • Recreation/games
  • Evening Closing Program open to families
  • This is truly a ministry of community outreach as over one half of the one hundred students attending are not members of either church. This popular program fills quickly. It is held for one week in August from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM. For further information, contact Wesley UMC office at 508-875-3850.
