Invitation to Witness - World wide prayerful celebration
Brief to the Judicial Council
On June 20, over 100 members and participants from our congregation of about 150 met together, to consider our response to Pastor Mark E. Williams' public statement to the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference that he is a gay man in ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church. That night we voiced our undivided support for Mark Williams, and asked to retain him in ministry to our congregation, as an ordained pastor in good standing.
Since the June 20 meeting many events have transpired in our quest to retain Mark Williams as our pastor. One of those events was the formation of a Justice Ministry Team. The Justice Ministry Team was organized to investigate avenues of support for our congregation and Mark Williams and to define Woodland Park's mission in supporting GLBT rights within the United Methodist Church.
