2nd Annual HRC Seattle Dinner
The 2nd Annual HRC Seattle Dinner, held at the Elliot Grand Hyatt on Saturday, October 13, was attended by over 500 elegantly dressed supporters. The banquet opened with a video about the HRC's programs and honored some of the gay and Lesbian Americans who had contributed to our wonderful country.
Among them was Katharine Lee Bates, a Wesley College professor who lived for 25 years as "one soul together" with another woman, who wrote the lyrics to "American the Beautiful".
The evening's festivities were opened by Cory Curtis and Howard Weiner, 2nd Annual HRC Seattle Dinner Co-chairs.
Deborah Brandt and Ken Vincent, were the MC's for the evening. Deborah and Ken are local radio personalities from KUOW, Seattle's NPR station
Tina Podlodowski, former Seattle City Council member, introduced the key note speaker for the evening, Jesse Jackson, Jr., U.S. Representative, 2nd Congressional District of Illinois.

Rep. Jay Inslee, State Rep. Ed Murray, Rep. Jim McDermott, and State Rep. Joe McDermott, Washington State House of Representatives, 37th District, (not shown) were among the public officials who spoke in support of HRC's efforts at the evening's event.

Following appearances by Federal Club Co-chairs Desi Bailey and John Chasse and former council to the Governor, Jenny Durkan, Steve Hardy, the evenings auctioneer conducted a spirited live auction.

HRC Annual Equality Award
Rabbi Michael Latz, Temple B'nai Torah in Bellevue, warmly welcomed this years recipient of the HRC Annual Equality Award, Rev. Mark Williams and members of the Woodland Park United Methodist Church.
Rev Mark Williams shares the HRC Equality Award with church members Cindy Rattray (next to Rev Williams) and Suzette Birrell.
Rev. Williams joins in the applause for the Woodland Park UMC Congregation in their search for justice and equality for gay and Lesbian pastors and church members.
Suzette Birrell's comment after the banquet, "Thank you so much, I was so proud to be there.", sums up the powerful support that the congregation at Woodland Park UMC feels from the HRC program.
