As John Wesley and the early Methodists did in the inner city of their day so Woodlawn United Methodist seeks to manifest the transforming, life renewing Presence of Christ in the inner city of Birmingham.
In seeking to fulfill its mission, WUMC has partnered with on site ministries: Cornerstone Schools of Alabama, Outreach Incorporated, Youth Works, and the Woodlawn Christian Center to improve the life conditions of individuals and of the greater community itself.
At the same time we embrace the rich diversity of the inner city by being an inclusive community of faith that welcomes all of God's children without exception.
To all who need to know the inclusive love of God, we bid you welcome. Help us to proclaim that love to a broken, hurting world.

Minister Notes
November, 2008
Where has the year gone? We are once again preparing to enter the holiday season that will carry us through the latter part of autumn and will see us through the beginning of a new calendar year.
In the midst of all the changes that will come our way during this time, we will be reminded in so many ways of the constant presence of the love of God that has been made so real to us in the gift of Jesus the Christ.
This wonderful expression of God’s love is the basis of all of our thanksgiving, and it is the heart of the seasonal celebrations that will begin with the first Sunday of Advent and that will continue with the joyous observation of Christmas and the celebration of the coming of the Light of God into the darkness of the whole world on the Feast of the Epiphany.
Surely our gratitude to God will lead us to a more holy observance of this glorious time of year so that Christ will be at the center of all that we do during this time rather than our selfish wants and wishes.
It is my prayer that this holiday season will be filled with the true joy and happiness that God desires for us all.
Please do not let the busy“ness”of the holidays so consume your time and energy that you will be robbed of all the joy that God intends for us to have.
Have a wonderful holiday season filled with all the blessings of God.
Grace and peace,
Larry
