Holy
Boldness: It's an attitude!
Our Vision:
As Woodlawn
United Methodist Church, we envision ourselves to be a grace filled, loving
and financially stable congregation of faithful followers of Christ.
We will carry out effective ministries of love and justice with each other,
in the neighborhood, and throughout the world.
Our Mission:
We'll be
a welcoming, Christ centered community which speaks and lives the Good News
of Jesus' inclusive love.
Our 'Holy Boldness'
Covenant
Woodlawn
Church is a "Holy Boldness" Covenanting Partner. Holy Boldness is the
urban plan of the United Methodist Church, but it is more than just a plan.
It's a vision of what the church in the city should be about.
By becoming
a covenanting partner, we have declared that we will become a church that
practices "holy boldness" in our city and urban neighborhood as evidenced
by:
-
Risking all we have to share God's transforming love as experienced through
Jesus Christ in both word and deed -
-
Ministering with and among the poor -
-
Transforming and developing this congregation for effective ministry -
-
Celebrating and honoring diversity within the Congregation, church related
organizations, agencies and the community -
-
Living and proclaiming God's justice and equality in every situation without
fear of being isolated and ridiculed -
-
Being an agent for healing in the midst of broken lives and communities -
-
Effectively developing the spiritual, social and physical well-being of individuals
and communities -
This vision is happening
at Woodlawn through a congregation based program called the Woodlawn Community Resource Center. We encourage small groups for prayer and Bible
study, and many forms of community involvement..
In everything, we seek
to live and celebrate our diversity!
