Drawing of Woodlawn Church Celebrating 118 Years of ministry in Woodlawn!

Woodlawn Church has ministered in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Portland for 118 years.  It's a rich heritage and we invite you to use this page to explore that history.  (Click the link for more information on each event.)

Central M.E. Church was the first congregation which makes up what is now Woodlawn Church.

Beech Street Methodist Church began as the Swedish M.E. Church in 1891.  In 1956 it merged with Woodlawn Church and the new Woodlawn Church building was built at the present location.

Patton Church began in the same year on land donated by the Patton estate.

Woodlawn M.E. Church also began in 1891 as the first church in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Portland.

Patton and Central Churches merged in 1958 to form Patton-Central Methodist Church.  In 1987, Patton-Central merged with Woodlawn.
