Our History: Central Methodist Episcopal Church

Woodlawn United Methodist Church as it exists today is a merger over time of four different congregations.  It's history stretches back Woodlawn, Central M.E.Church 113 years, beginning with the founding of Central Methodist Episcopal (M.E.) Church in 1888.  Central Church eventually built the structure now occupied by Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church.  In 1957 it merged with Patton Methodist Church to form Patton Central Methodist Church.

We have very little information regarding the early history of the Central congregaton and would appreciate any information which anyone could provide.
