'Our Maker's Pantry'
News Update!
by Sandy Hawkins
"Our Maker's Pantry," and "Kimberly's Kitchen" ministry has been truly blessed by the amount of help provided by local churches in Chaplin, as well as those from further afield, such as Bloomfield, Bardstown, Louisville and Danville. There has also been a lot of help provided by many wonderful friends, as well as receipt of monetary donations.
It is such a humbling experience to see all of these churches coming together in a concerted way to glorify our Lord and in memory of our daughter Kimberly. We have met many new and wonderful people since we started this ministry officially on September 17th this year.
Recent activity has shown there is a need to provide clothes, as well as food, and so we have also been accepting slightly used clothes and new personal items (lotions, etc.).
I love being in the position to be able to hand out little New Testament bibles to people, as they come to visit us. I also feel so privileged to be able to help them in their time of need. They are so appreciative of the help we are able to provide in this one area of their lives. I feel that as our ministry grows, we will be able to help in other areas that are needed.
One of our newest projects is the building of a wheelchair ramp for the front of the pantry, so that everyone who is in need is able to come to us easily. We enjoy meeting with our new friends and want them to feel comfortable with us at all times.
Please continue to pray for our ministry as well as for all those people in need. In today's economy, people who are working still have problems meeting all of their family's needs and we hope we can help lighten the burden for them a little by providing some food, friendship and love. Most of all we hope to show them God loves them, and so do we and a young lady named Kimberly, whose dream this was.
