Stewardship – a way of life!
Just tell me what to do and I will do it, Lord. As long as I live I’ll wholeheartedly obey.
Make me walk along the right paths, for I know how delightful they really are.
Psalm 119: 33-35
A delightful time in Biloxi

Here are some pictures from our trip to Biloxi in January. Team #34 consisted of 16 people from 7 different churches. Gail Ross, Ed Ruppmann, Gina and Bob Christie went from Woodbury – Gail, Gina; Bob on their 2nd trip. Others were from the Lake Ronkonkoma UMC (2); Memorial UMC in White Plains (2); Monticello, NY UMC; Faith Lutheran in Syosset; St. Patrick’s RC in Huntington (2). Pastor Janet Porcher; 2 of her Oceanside UMC congregation brought a friend of the Jewish faith. It was truly an ecumenical group.
Team #34 with Juanita and Eugene Daniels in whose home we worked.

We taped; spackled – plumbed; painted; cleaned up. We played; we prayed; we learned so much – how to do things we had never done before - about each other - about what it means to help others. We met so many people who were so grateful that we were there! We got much more out of it than we gave!

We shopped; we cooked…

We helped to do a little rebuilding and the tens of thousands of other volunteers that continue to go to the Gulf Coast are making progress but so much remains to be done. It is often said of the Katrina victims that they “lost everything”. But they all showed us that while they lost most of their material possessions, they didn’t lose their faith!

We learned so much from these people about what it means to really have faith in the grace of God! This is why we will all go again – it is a life changing experience!
