One of the WLAUMC United Methodist Women's main functions is Missions. Funds are raised through their annual O-sushi sale, and bi-annual Holiday Boutique. Organizations they support are:

A3M – ASIANS FOR MIRACLE MARROW MATCHES  provides education, assistance, and help in facilitating access to potential marrow and blood cell donors especially within the Asian and Pacific Island population.  A3M is the largest Asian Pacific Island recruitment group of the National Marrow Donor Program.  A3M is located in Little Tokyo.

ASIAN PACIFIC WOMEN’S CENTER provides safe transitional housing for Asian and Pacific Island domestic violence survivors.  Through the Center’s various programs/services, these individuals have the opportunity “to acquire the necessary skills and personal strength for self-sufficiency and violence-free lives.”  This center is located in Los Angeles.

CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILY COLLABORATIVE provides services to youth in foster care between the ages of 12 and 18.  The partnership of several organizations, including the United Methodist Church, has also enhanced services to the young people who are getting ready to leave the foster care program.  The Collaborative is located in Los Angeles.  (This donation is in addition to what is given by WLAUMC.)

CLINICA MONSONOR OSCAR A. ROMERO is a Community Health Center that provides affordable primary health and dental care and related services to “primarily low-income, uninsured and underserved clientele”.  Over 45,000 people have been serviced by this Center.  This clinic is located in Los Angeles.

CONVALESCENT HOSPITALS – Keiro and Culver West residents have been the recipients of monetary donations and visits by our members.

DAVID AND MARGARET HOME provides a wide range of services for youth and families that foster emotional, spiritual and identity development.  The home originally began in 1910 as an orphanage, transitioned into a treatment center for girls, and now has varied programs for both girls and boys, such as foster family placement, learning problems center, mental health counseling and services, and a Transitional Living and Care Program to provide housing and support services for young adults who have come of age to leave foster care.  David and Margaret Home is located in LaVerne, Calif

PATH – PEOPLE ASSISTING THE HOMELESS (WLA CAMPUS) provides transitional housing and employment assistance to help individuals become self-sufficient in their journey to break the cycle of homelessness and become independent, productive citizens.  Each of the UMW Circles also made dinner for these residents once or twice during this year as part of WLAUMC’s commitment.  PATH is located here in West Los Angeles.

PICO UNION SHALOM MINISTRY is a mission project of the Los Angeles District. They just completed a 30 unit affordable housing unit. The worship together in the conference room of this housing complex.

STEP UP ON SECOND provides services, programs, education, and support for persons with mental illness and their families to reintegrate the recovering individuals into the community.  Step Up is committed to increasing the public’s understanding and acceptance of mental illness.  Step Up On Second is located in Santa Monica.

SOJOURN SERVICES FOR BATTERED WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN is a program of the Ocean Park Community Center in Santa Monica whose mission is to “empower people to rebuild their lives”.  Sojourn focuses on the needs of battered women and their children and the need to stop the cycle of domestic violence.  Last year Sojourn helped 3,56l women and children with services, provided housing for 104 women and 109 children, and answered 2,458 calls on their hotline.

TOBERMAN SETTLEMENT HOUSE serves youth, families, adults, and seniors.  Their goal is to “move people beyond poverty, work toward reclaiming gang members, and develop urban peace and interethnic harmony”  with their programs of child care, emergency food and clothing, and an afterschool program of tutoring, homework help, reading development, computer lab, and  recreation.  Toberman was begun in 1903 and is the oldest United Methodist mission project in Southern California.  It is located in San Pedro.

UMCOR (UNITED METHODIST COMMITTEE ON RELIEF) LAYETTE KITS- 20 kits for new babies were assembled and sent to Sage Brown in Baldwin, Louisiana.  These kits (all uniformly assembled with 2 receiving blankets, 6 cloth diapers, 2 diaper pins, 2 one piece body suits, 2 baby washcloths, 2 sleepers, and 1 sweater opening in front) are given to babies throughout the world by UMCOR in response to disasters and/or urgent human needs.
