LAODICEA: The Lukewarm, Self-Satisfied Church

1) Christ – “The Amen and faithful and true Witness” (1:5) the beginning of the creaton of God (1:8,17) (Amen is originally a Hebrew word meaning “firm, sure, certain, true”)

2) Condition –

1. The were “lukewarm,” tepid, and thus were sickening to God. No fire, no zeal.

2. They were deceived because the were spiritually blind, spiritually poor, spiritually troubled on the inside.

3. They had material wealth and were satisfied with this world’s goods.

3) Command –

1. Be zealous and repent.

2. The were deceived because they were spiritually blind, spiritually poor, spiritually troubled on the inside.

3. White raiment – righteousness of position and practice.

4. Eyesalve – for their spiritual blindness

4) Covenant –

1. Restoration f fellowship v. 20

2. Authority to rule with Christ v. 21

5) Call to Attention – “He that hath ears to hear…”
