Chapter 7
Who will be saved in the tribulation?
INTRODUCTION: Chapter 7 is not an advancement of chapter
6. Chapter 7 is calling special
attention upon the saints of the Tribulation.
I. JOHN SEES FOUR ANGELS 7:1-3
A. They control the winds of the earth
B. They are commanded not to hurt. 7:3
C. God wants His own to be protected. 7:3
1. His chosen people are to be spared harm during the
tribulation.
2. Examples:
a. The flood – God protected Noah.
b. The destruction of Jericho – God protected Rahab.
D. Question, are people going to be saved after the
rapture?
1. Yes!
2. The Holy Spirit is not dwelling in the believer at
this time.
3. People will be saved as they were before Pentecost.
II. THE TWELVE TRIBES OF ISRAEL ARE SEALED 7:4-8
A. Some problems.
1. Why is the tribe of Dan missing? Deut. 29:18-21
a. One of the first to go into idolatry.
b. Because it was small, it could be in the tribe of
Naphtali, born of the same mother as Dan.
2. The name of Joseph takes the place of Ephraim.
B. The 144,000 are the children of Israel. Romans 9:8-13 They are cut off until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
C. God’s seal is placed upon each one of them.
1. They are to be His special instruments.
2. They are to be protected to carry the Gospel.
D. What is the seal?
14:1
1. A physical mark belonging to God. Eph. 1:13
2. A prophecy not fulfilled at Pentecost. Acts 2:17-20
III. MARTYRED OF THE GREAT TRIBULATION 7:9-10
A. They are identified as tribulation saints. 7:13-14
1. They are Gentiles
2. Probably saved as a result of the Jews carrying the
Gospel.
B. The white robes may refer to 6:11.
1. Martyred in 6:11 told to wait.
2. These are those they are to wait for.
IV. THE HEAVENLY HOST PRAISE THEIR COMING TO HEAVEN 7:11-12
V. THERE WILL BE SOME WHO WILL STAND FOR CHRIST IN THE TRIBULATION
A. John is asked a question he does not know.
B. This could be the Great Tribulation Christ spoke of
in Matthew 24:21
1. There will be those who will give their lives.
2. They will be saved by the blood of Christ.
