INTRODUCTION:
Let’s talk about a neglected subject: Eternity
Those who are born again can anticipate a bright eternity.
What Believers have awaiting them after death or after the rapture:
I.
ETERNITY WITH OUR SAVIOR (v. 3)
A. “He will dwell with them”
B. Faith in Christ begins a wonderful walk with God.
C. Their walk with the Lord continues in Heaven.
1. He will dwell with them.
2. They shall be His people
3. God Himself shall be with them.
4. He will be their God.
II.
ETERNITY WITHOUT TEARS
(v. 3)
A. There are many tears here.
1. The first sign of life in a baby—a cry.
2. The disappointments and hurts of childhood;
3. The shattered dreams of the working years.
4. The loneliness and pain of old age.
B. Jesus was a Man of Sorrows (Isa. 53)
1. Sorrow in Gethsemane (Matthew 26:28)
Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding
sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
2. Weeping at the grave of Lazarus (John 11:35)
Jesus wept.
3. Weeping over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41)
And when he was come near, he beheld the city,
and wept over it,
C. God will wipe away all tears.
D. There will be no more sorrow nor crying.
III.
ETERNITY WITHOUT SEPARATION (v. 3)
A. “There will be no more death”
B. Death brings separation
1. Separation of body and spirit (James 2:26)
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith
without works is dead also.
2. Separation from friends and loved ones.
C. The last enemy will finally be destroyed (I Cor. 15:26)
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is
death.
IV.
ETERNITY WITHOUT SICKNESS (v.
4)
A. “Neither shall there be any more pain”
B. Physical infirmities are always with us.
C. In Heaven we will enjoy perfect health.
1. No colds nor cancer.
2. No arthritis or appendicitis
3. No headaches nor heart attacks
D. All will be new—including us.
CONCLUSION:
A timely word from Jesus (v. 6)
1. He is the beginning and the end.
2. He offers living water to all who thirst.
Come to Him in faith and be satisfied forever.
