is to show us the abundant life we have in Christ.
1. Fellowship with God and His family
2. Fullness of joy, flowing from assurance of salvation
3. Forgiveness of sin in daily life.

THE AIM IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE (V. 1)
A. “That you sin not”
B. Awareness of sin brings us to the Savior
1. Want to be saved? Acknowledge you are lost
2. Want to go to heaven? Realize you are bound for hell
3. Christ came to save sinners
C. Upon receiving Christ by faith we are forgiven.
(Colossians 1:14)
D. What should be the aim of us as believers?
1. We should aim for daily victory.
2. Jesus is our example
E. We are equipped to win
II.
THE ADVOCATE FOR ALL CHRISTIANS (V.
1)
A. “But if any man sin”
1. Facing the reality of imperfection
2. God still loves us (Rom. 8:38-39)
B. “We have an advocate with the Father”
1. An advocate who comes to our aid when we stumble
2. An advocate who intercedes in heaven for us. (Hebrews 7:25)
3. An Advocate on earth and One in heaven (John 14-16)
4. An Advocate when the Enemy comes against us.
III.
THE ATONEMENT (V. 2)
A. He is the propitiation for our sins
B. He has paid for our sins with His own blood
C. Christ has reconciled us to our Father (2 Cor.
5:17-20)
D. He finished He finished His work of reconciliation on
the cross
E. His work as our advocate continues
CONCLUSION:
We are to invite others to
the abundant life
