INTRODUCTION:

A text that begins and ends with all.

Great “Alls” of the Bible

  2. “Who gave himself a ransom for all” (1 Tim. 2:6)
  3. “In him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5)
  4. “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7)

How this text affects us all

1.      Spiritual death (Eph. 2:1)

2.      Physical death (Heb. 9:27)

D.    All creation has been affected by the fall (Rom. 8:22)

E.     Sin has placed us in deep trouble.

1.      Apart from God’s love there is no hope.

2.      Thankfully, He love us so there is hope (Rom. 5:8)

II.            WE HAVE ALL GONE OUR OWN WAY

A.     “We have turned everyone to his own way”

B.     We have chosen to rebel against God.

1.      Rebelling against His laws.

2.      Rebelling against His love.

3.      Rebelling against His goodness.

4.      Rebelling against His grace.

C.    Rebellion against Christ when He came to save.

1.      “We will not have this man over us” (Luke 19:14)

2.      This attitude led to the Cross.

D.    Rebellion continues today.

1.      Some will not receive Christ and be saved.

2.      Even some believers choose their own way.

III.            CHRIST DIED OUR DEBT OF SIN TO PAY

A.     “The LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all”

B.     Jesus paid it all

1.      He voluntarily paid our debt of sin.

2.      He became the propitiation for our sins  (1 John 4:10)

3.      He became sin for us (2 Cor. 5:21)

4.      We are redeemed by His blood (1 Peter 1:18-20)

C.    Our redemption by His blood is the theme of heaven (Rev. 1:5)

1.      It is heaven’s song (Rev. 5:9)

2.      It will be the joy of saints and angels (Rev. 7:9-17)

CONCLUSION:

Do you accept the fact of your sinfulness?

Do you admit your rebellion against God?

Will you accept the one who bore your sins at the cross?
