Friday Evening Common Prayer March 14, 2003 7:30 PM |
The Gathering
Peace to each one who comes in need,
PEACE TO EACH ONE WHO COMES IN JOY.
Peace to each one who offers prayers,
PEACE TO EACH ONE WHO OFFERS SONG.
Peace to the Maker, Peace to the Son,
PEACE OF THE SPIRIT, THE TRIUNE ONE.
14 - "Our darkness"
20 - "The Lord is my song"
28 - "Come and fill"
The Psalm
3 - "Alleluia"
As the light is passed, the verse is sung and then repeated after each Psalm verse. Through the psalms, prayed by Jesus himself, we join our hope to the hope experienced by Gods people through the centuries.
The Lessons from Scripture
37 - "Within our darkest night"
During this song, all are invited to place their candle in one of the clay pots.
The Silence
During a time of common silent prayer, slow the pace of your life and listen to God, to what God is saying to you about your life. When we try to express communion with God in words, we rapidly reach the end of our capabilities. A period of silence to listen to the voice of God deep within, therefore, is essential in discovering the heart of prayer.
35 - "Sing, praise and bless the Lord"
The Blessing of the World
We pray for those who are near and for those who are far away. We also pray for our local community, for Christians who are compelled to be silent, for all who are in need, and for the whole human family.
After hearing "Christ in your mercy" please respond "Hear our prayer."
The Lords Prayer
The Hymn
"Ah, Holy Jesus"
