Meet Our Pastor

Reverend Dr. LaRita Hand serves as a local pastor at Willson UMC. She accepted Jesus Christ at the age of eleven and was baptized. In 1985 Dr. Hand answered the call to ministry and began to prepare her self for ministry. She matriculated in seminary at Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, NJ and obtained a Master's of Divinity. She was then ordained itinerate Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1998. 

She returned to Ohio and founded Mercy Missions International. This ministry ignited her desire to resume her passion and ministry to Abused women and children. She started emotional healing groups,, retreats, and empowerment training in leadership and obtained her Doctor of Ministry degree at Ashland theological Seminary in 2003. She has served God in various capacities; intercessor, evangelist, missionary to foreign countries (Africa, China, Australia, Philippines, and West Indies), associate pastor, teacher, women's ministry, prayer cell leader, short term missions leader, mentor, retreat and seminar facilitator, pastoral counselor, chaplain and senior pastor. She received honor through Empire Who's Who Among Executives and Professional Women for 2006/2007. She is an encourager of the faith in God.

She is the wife of Reverend Willie Hand of 23 years. They have three children: James, (twins) Sherita and Talia and six grandchildren. Reverend Hand serves with Dr. Hand at Willson UMC.

Dr. Hand is ecumenical in her approach to ministry. She believes that God can use anyone regardless of their race, ethnicity, or denomination as long as Jesus Christ is the center.
