2008 Summer Camp Dates

The First United Methodist Church of Wilburton, Oklahoma traditionally pays half of the fee for a child or youth to attend Church Camp, provided that child or youth is active in Church activities such as Sunday School or UMYF. The family of the child or youth is asked to contribute the remaining half of the camp fee to the church when the camp registration form is returned to the church. Each camp listed below will have a local church volunteer designated to handle registrations for that specific camp (camps without current volunteers will have them listed at a later time.) The church will forward all camp registrations and payment to the appropriate office of the McAlester District or Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Camp scholarships are available for families with several children wishing to attend camp or when financial circumstances would otherwise prohibit a child from attending camp.

If you have other questions concerning Church Camps, you can visit the Oklahoma United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries web site.

1. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ADULTS OF SONSHINE CAMPERS: Each church must send at least one adult with their children so there is a familiar face from home (Please limit your adults to 1 adult per 5 campers). There is no charge, but in exchange the adults will be asked to serve as “shepherds” -- which simply means they will accompany the campers through the various centers and activities -- enjoying them together and stay in the cabins with the campers. The adult must complete a registration form early and must complete the Application Information Form including the OSBI background check

2. Eligible youth for CYME may be local church youth leaders/officers, CCYM youth members (Conference Council on Youth Ministries), District youth leader/officers, youth members of District or Conference Design Teams. Otherwise, any other youth who comes MUST be Pastor or youth worker-recommended.
