Children's Sunday School

Each week, Sunday School is offered for all children during the second half of the worship service.  Following a Time for Children during the regular worship service, children are excused to attend their own Sunday School classes.  For more information, please contact Bonnie Parlee, Director of Christian Education.

Confirmation classes for students in 6th grade and older will be begin on Sunday February 24.

   Theme for May - Images of Jesus in the Arts

During April we have been learning about the appearances of Jesus after the resurrection.  The appearance of a resurrected Christ revealed that Jesus was available to the disciples as the Holy Spirit, just as he was available in the incarnate Jesus.

This year's theme will be The Messiah.  The October curriculum will feature the prophecies of Isaiah.

 

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,

"Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?"

 Vacation Bible School

WUMC will once again be offering Vacation Bible School this summer.

Plan to join us August 11 - 15, from 9:00 to noon.

From the time of the early prophets, the people of Israel place their hope on the arrival of a deliverer.  King David became the reference point for those prophets, promising a return to the throne of someone who would institute a New Kingdom.  This deliverer, the Anointed One of God, the Messiah, would bring salvation from earthly oppression.  Jesus' birth, baptism, crucifixion and resurrection fulfilled those prophecies and he became the central figure of the Christian faith.

The first Sunday of every month will be a group Sunday introducing the monthly Bible Story.  The following Sundays we will split into age-appropriate classrooms, which will include a Middle / High School class.  Holidays will always be a group Sunday.  Middle / High School students are always welcome to join in on group Sundays or they may wish to stay with their families and listen to the sermon.  There will be a special Mission project on any fifth Sunday.
