Lander, Wyoming

Dear Friends,

Greetings. I’m seeking your help finding team members for an upcoming UMVIM team trip to Lander, Wyoming to rebuild the Lander First UMC’s Care N Share Food Bank from June 21 through 29. The current food bank building is too old to refurbish and too small to feed those in need in the community and Arapaho and Shoshoni people on the Wind River Reservation. This is a UMVIM approved mission project that I am very excited about. Two years ago the church rebuilt its thrift store and now they are rebuilding their food bank.

We need the God-given strength of at six to twelve volunteers in Lander in June. I am leading a UMVIM team to put up the roof trusses and roof sheeting for the new food bank building but I have no firm commitments from any volunteers. I traveled to Lander and was greatly impressed by the Lander UMC’s commitment to mission outreach in their community. They are passionate about being in mission, and I am passionate about helping them better serve their community.  I am prayerfully seeking your help building the team to travel with me to Lander Wyoming. With God’s help, all things are possible. It’s hard work, but will be an exciting, life-changing experience. That’s guaranteed – but you already know that!

Lander First UMC is counting on us. With God’s help, let’s all be in mission together in Yellowstone Conference. Thank you, all of you, for your prayers and support! Please feel free to forward this email or call me at 406.465.8799. I’d be delighted to hear from you.  Please download more information here.

Grace and peace,
Elinor W. Edmunds

Fernley, Nevada
Early Saturday morning, January 5, 2008, a 30’ section of the Truckee Canal breached, flooding an area of approximately two square miles.

Over 500 homes in Fernley’s southeast neighborhoods filled with water anywhere from 6 inches to 8 feet deep, with 3-4 feet in the majority of homes.  The homeowners will need sheetrock, paint and other materials to repair flood-damaged homes. Our annual conference disaster response efforts will be focused on long-term recovery for those homeowners who have no other resources to rebuild their homes and their lives.  If you are interested in this opportunity, please download a brochure/application here.
