Executive Director Position, Mission Central
Mission Central is the mission warehouse ministry of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Our partners include other United Methodist conferences in the Northeast Jurisdiction as well as over 200 denominational and nondenominational mission groups in southcentral Pennsylvania. Since our beginning in June 2002, Mission Central has hosted thousands of volunteers who come to Mission Central to experience being "the hands and feet of God" in service.
With support of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will serve as the lead executive, manager and public face of the organization. He/she will provide inspiring, compelling and strategic leadership and vision to Mission Central, and be committed to extending the organization's mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Key qualifications include:
- Proven leadership and extensive management/operational experience within a nonprofit/NGO organization
- Ability to manage, influence and inspire a wide variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Possesses a global perspective and appreciation for diverse populations, cultures and ideas
- Intellectually curious and able to guide the organization through the sensitivities and complexities associated with the mission
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a consensus builder
- Fundraising know-how and enthusiasm
- Ability to engage, encourage and help to build and maintain a strong, active Board that assists Mission Central in fulfilling the mission. Actively recruits for new members to build the Board. Ensures that the Board is actively involved in planning, fundraising, and outreach activities that help further relationships for Mission Central.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent required. Current driver's license or ability to obtain a PA Drivers License. Preference will be given to candidates that have a successful history of building faith based organizations and have demonstrated their work or experience an understanding of the United Methodist Church's Social Principles.
