APPOLINE-CHILD OF THE CONGO

7-year old Appoline suffers from the
trauma of watching her parents die in the bush area of Democratic Republic
of Congo where they lived. Elderly, they were too old to resist the
invasion and died at the hands of the rebel forces. Appoline and her
sister were forced to watch.
Appoline appears to be very intelligent at the Methodist school in Lubumbashi (DRC) she attends, but continues to suffer from panic attacks when remembering her days in the bush.
Thanks to the Hope for the Children of Africa/Bishop"s Appeal, Appoline is getting the help she needs....physical, spiritual, emotional, and medical....at the new Jamaa Letu Orphanage in Lubumbashi. Jamaa Letu ("Our Family" in Swahili) was built as a result of a partnering between Pacific Northwest Conference in the USA and South Congo Conference in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Here's how you can help: (1) Join an UMVIM team going to Congo in 2002 from PNW conference. (2) Join an UMVIM team from Rocky Mtn conference to Angola in 2002 (3) Sponsor an orphan at Jamaa Letu for one year with your donation of $36(per year) for schooling, or $20 per month for food & milk, $10 (per year) for medical care, or $25 (per year) for school uniform, books, and shoes. Can your youth group, men's group, choir, or Sunday school class support one orphan this year?
