Project AGAPE
Project AGAPE (Armenia Georgia
America
Partnership
Endeavor)
is the union of the mission-minded brothers and sisters of the North Carolina
and Western North Carolina Conferences of the United Methodist Church.
This mission collects the basic necessities such as clothes, medications,
educational supplies, food,... to be shipped to the war-torn countries.
The United
Methodist Women have chosen to sponsor this mission and will be devoting
their time, energy, and prayers to this endeavor. Through the month
of February we will be collecting the needed items for the March pick-up
date. Especially needed this year is money. A recent fire and
increased shipping costs has necessiated the asking of money in addition
to these items. Please pray for this mission and support it with
your generous donations.
Habitat
for Humanity
The United Methodist Men will be a part of the Hbitat for Humanity projects in Randolph County as the projects arise. We will commit our money and time in building a "Home of Love" for a well deserving family in Randolph County.

Hurricane
Floyd Relief
In 1999, Hurricane Floyd roared across Eastern North Carolina leaving an indescribable swath of devastation in its wake. Of all the damaged and destroyed homes and businesses, only 3% were covered by insurance. Immediately following the storm, volunteers from the Western North Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, began preparations in the relief and rebuilding effort. Funds are continuing to be raised to aid in this relief effort which is expected to continue for at least another three years. As we continue to pledge our support financially, the United Methodist Men are in the planning stage of sending building teams to the Princeville area in early summer.
Heifer Project
Over the summer, the Mt. Shepherd / West
Chapel Charge will once again participate in Heifer
Project International. On the kick-off Sunday, each member of West
Chapel UMC will be given a "Ark" bank and a "Fill the Ark Calendar" to
help guide us in our giving. The money we raise could be designated to
buy some type of livestock, such as cow, chicks, goats, sheep. The animal
may be given to some family in need in a impoverished village, somewhere
in the world to help provide for them. But the giving goes beyond just
this family. For instance, our money will buy a cow to be sent to the family.
The cow will provide nourishment through its milk that will enable hungry
and malnourished children to grow and have a healthier life. The excess
milk can be sold to raise money for other necessities, health care and
education. But the giving still goes beyond that. When the cow has a calf,
the family will give the first-born cow to another family, who will benefit
in similar ways. They in turn will give their first-born cow to another
needy family, and so on. As you can see, the giving that we do today we
continue to multiply and spread health and God's love for generations.
We pray that we will continue to be good stewards of our God-given time
and talents.

Breakfast of Love
Breakfast of Love supports the mission effort
in Lima, Peru where children from poor shanty villages are fed a hot and
nutrious breakfast each morning. During our next Vacation
Bible School, we will collect funds for this mission through offerings
by the community children who attend Vacation
Bible School.
Christian United Outreach Center
The Christian United Outreach Center (CUOC)
is a cooperative and ecumenical effort of many churches and organizations
of Asheboro and Randolph County. Through this combined effort, many
people have a single place to go when seeking help with their hardships.
Currently, the Youth Sunday School Class
of West Chapel UMC is sponsoring a Canned Food Drive through November 19th.
All collected food will be taken to the CUOC to be distributed to the needy
in our communities.
