Wesley United Methodist Church has this mission statement:

“The Wesley Family exists to worship and serve God through prayer, study and Christian action.”

The United Methodist Church has been a part of the fabric of America since 1778. In the midst of the Revolutionary war the traveling preachers of John Wesley gathered to establish a church based on a belief in God’s love and God’s ability to transform lives bylives by the power of the Holy Spirit. Out of this firm understanding of “grace” the UMC has become a keystone in millions of lives, and the source of the largest Protestant Church mission work in the world. Our beliefs and ethics are founded on the principle that each individual can discover for his or her self both the will of God and right behavior by looking to the Scriptures, tradition, reason and experience. The result has been a church as diverse as the human spirit. However, our focus is not on our differences but on our unity. In the words of John Wesley as he confronted the problems of doctrinal arguments, “If your heart is as my heart, take my hand.”

Thank you for your interest in Wesley United Methodist Church. I believe in the presence and power of the living God, and that there is nothing in life as important as walking each day humbly and gratefully with that God. Part of this response is worship. Another part is a constant trust that helps us stand against all life’s trials and challenges.

 

We take seriously Paul’s understanding that our oneness in Christ transcends all human boundaries. This is reflected in the music and feel of our worship. We celebrate in many styles, for we worship One God together.

 

I have a loving wife, Theresa, who shares this ministry and three wonderful children with me. We hope that you will find Wesley UMC is a blessing in your own life.

       9:45 a.m.      Worship starts with Praise Singing

     10:00 a.m.      Formal Worship and

                           Children’s Sunday School

     11:15 a.m.      Coffee Fellowship

       6:00 p.m.      Youth Fellowship

 

Monday

     10:30 a.m.      Pastor Led Bible Study off till 9/10

       5:30 p.m.      Crew for Christ (K-6) off till 9/10

       6:00 p.m.      Game night at members’ homes.

 

Tuesday

       7:00 p.m.      Staff/Parish Committee

 

Thursday

       1:00 p.m.      Friendship Club Luncheon

                           (This is a monthly gathering

                           of adults, age 55 and above.)

       7:00 p.m.      Adult Bible Study meets in

                           individuals’ homes.

       7:30 p.m.      Emmaus Bible Study meets in

                           the Brocks’ home.

Worship

Our worship style is called “blended ” because we use the music and approach of both the contemporary praise and traditional services. We have both a traditional choir and a praise band. The reason for this is that we firmly believe that the Bible calls us to worship TOGETHER, unhindered by age or race.

 

Children have an important place in our worship. They often sing, there is a fun time for children and they are in worship almost right to the sermon. This is because they are valued, and parents need not fear that they will be considered a distraction. There are toys and coloring available. There is also a nursery available for those who wish to use it.
