New pastor . . .

. . . joins Wesley United Methodist Church

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Rev. Ron Hines began his new post Wednesday. This is his first weekend in his new role.

Hines was appointed pastor by Bishop Grant Hagiya of the United Methodist Pacific Northwest Conference, effective July 1.

He is a graduate of Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, and United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He received his doctorate degree from Claremont School of Theology.

Hines served as Pastor of Prosser United Methodist Church from 1979 to 1983. He spent the next 10 years at various United Methodist churches in the Philippines. From 1994 to 2001, he was the pastor at Tacoma Asbury and Puyallup United Methodist churches.

Hines recently served as the co-superintendent of the United Methodist Churches in the Seven Rivers District, which includes Central Washington. He held that post from 2001 to 2009.

Hines and his wife Lois have lived in Yakima since 2001 and have two grown children who live in Miami.
