We are licensed by Department of Health and Environmental Control (DEHC) of South Carolina and have small classes for individual attention and development. Our teachers are also highly qualified and experienced to guide and teach the children. The child's school day will be from 9:00 a. m. until 12 Noon, Monday through Friday. Children arrive no earlier than 8:45 AM and should be pick up on later than 12 noon. Children who arrive before 8:45 AM or not picked up by noon will be charged for extended care.  The calendar for the school year will correspond to Richland County School District One for major holidays. In addition to that calendar, the preschool/kindergarten may have several teacher in-service days. On these days there may be no school and no extended care.

Purpose
The Wesley Memorial Preschool/Kindergarten operates as a part of the educational ministry of the church, convinced that God's continuing activity is best interpreted to children through learning and loving relationships between teachers and children and strengthening of family ties through home, school and church. Curriculum development begins with the needs of individual children and teachers are facilitators in the teaching-learning environment. Activates are designed to enhance the social, intellectual, physical and spiritual development of participating children, as well as affirm the role of parents in teaching-learning experiences.

 Goals for each Child
Will be invited to grow through experiences of success and warm affirming relationships with other children and adults.

Will participate in activities which encourage body awareness, development of coordination of large and small muscles, and use of emerging skills. Proper nutrition and care of the body will be encouraged.

Will develop ways to handle emotions helpfully in relationships with teachers, other children and in larger group experiences.

Will be offered opportunities to experience the large world of nature and to grow in understanding of the meaning of community relationships.

Will be given opportunity to experience God in loving relationships with people, fostering understanding and loving concern, making possible for adults, parents and child response to the seeking love of God.

Parents will be offered enrichment experiences God to affirm their role and strength ties with their child and the larger community.

Registration and Supply Fee
An application and a fee of $90.00 is required at the time of registration. this fee is refundable only if the family moves from the Columbia area prior to the opening of school. Registration for the following year will begin in late February. A supply fee of $35.00 is due twice, once in September and again in January. All information in your child's file will remain confidential and secure.

Tuition

2 days/week, T/Thur. $140.00/month (2/3 yr. olds
3 days/week, MWF $170.00/month (2/3 yr. olds
5 days/week M-F $200.00/month (2/3/4 yr. olds.

Tuition is due on the first of every month. It is late if not received  by the 10th of month in which case a $10.00 late fee will be assessed. If tuition becomes two months late, your child will be dropped from our program. When you pay your tuition, your child may be reinstated in our program if there is an opening. Parents are provided with an envelope to use for tuition payments. Your are responsible for making sure that payment is received on time. Extended care will be billed separately.


Entrance Requirements
A child entering the Wesley Memorial Preschool/Kindergarten program must be 2, 3, 4 y ears old on or before September 1st of the school year. Enrollment is open to any child, providing the school can meet the needs of the child. The 3 and 4 year old children should be toilet trained prior to entering the preschool program. Parents of 2 year old are urged to begin toilet training as soon as practical.

Health Requirements
All children entering the Wesley Memorial Preschool should be examined by their family physician. DSS Form 1148 ( Certification of Immunization) must be completed and returned to the Director. By South Carolina state laws, all  children must have a Certificate of Immunization. Bring this form with you the first week of school.  Your child not be officially enrolled without it. You can obtain it from your family physician or County Health Department.

School Hours
The child's school day will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Children arrive no earlier than 8:45 and should be picked up no later than 12 noon. Every effort should be made to arrive by 9:00 a.m. Children who arrive before 8:45 a.m. or not picked up by 12 noon will be charged fro extended care. Parents will have access to their child (children) at all times during the school day.


Extended Care
Extended care will be provided for the children enrolled in the preschool  program and for the preschool children of the community. Each child is to bring his/her lunch and a beverage. This service will be provided for $3.75 per hour. However, this rate may increase depending on the number of children that stay for extended care.  Extended Care will  be available until 3:00 p.m.

Illnesses
Parents should be alert to the symptoms of illness (fever, sore throat, stomach ache, runny nose, diarrhea) and not send a child sick to school. When a child is ill, he/she should be kept at home until he/she is no longer contagious and feels well enough to participate in the regular program, at least 24 hours after a fever or vomiting.
If a child becomes sick at school, parents will be called. Sick children cannot be cared for at school.

Medications
If any medication is to be given to a child at school, a note giving specific instructions and permission should accompany it. No medications will be given without written instructions signed by a parent.

Absentees
Children who are absent from school for more than 3 consecutive days should notify the teacher or director. We are concerned about each child.

Wesley Memorial is a neighborhood church serving God and neighbor - making disciples of Jesus Christ. A very important part of our ministry is to children. We are dedicated to the development, enrichment, and formation of young persons and to the enrichment of their family life. This process of building is the focus of our preschool program. We have brought together knowledgeable professionals to accomplish this vitally important responsibility.
We are committed to doing all that we can to insure that your child experiences authentic Christian love and concern. We hope and pray that this program will be a channel of God's love through which your child - your family - may experience the grace of Almighty God.
In order to help this program reach its full potential, please be in continuing conversation with your child's teacher about all aspects of his or her development.
