Local Outreach Programs

Wesley McCabe seeks to serve the community in many ways:

ESL Classes - English as a second language, for persons who desire to be more proficient in English. This is taught on three levels: children, beginner adults and advanced adults
Terrific Tuesday.  After-school ministry with children from South Ward School and 5 of 6
other South Longview schools  giving them time with adults who encourage them to be the best they can be.
Meals on Wheels - Once a month six two-person teams deliver hot meals to shut-ins and elderly people.
The Food Basket - Wesley-McCabe collects food which is taken to Longview Community of Ministries for distribution to the needy. Once a year we pack food boxes.
Sack Lunches are kept in the refrigerator for transients.
Asbury House - Wesley McCabe helps fill some of the needs for children at Asbury house. Last year birthday cakes were supplied for several children.. Wesley McCabe also participates in the annual Asbury House garage sale.
Defensive Driving Classes - That gives senior citizens a 10% reduction on insurance as well as more self assurance behind the wheel.
The CaringTree- For the past 15 years members of Wesley-McCabe have given gifts to patients at nursing homes and children at Asbury House who might not be remembered at Christmas.
Transportation - Furnished by couples for the elderly who need a ride to Sunday School and church.
An opportunity to share with others - The rack of magazines is in place in the foyer. Members bring old magazines and use what they wish from the collection. .
NewGate Super Bowl - Money, collected after church on Superbowl Sunday, is donated to the NewGate Mission.
Precinct 40 food donation - Helps the police dept. supply food baskets to the needy at Christmas.
Thanksgiving Food Drive - Canned goods are collected at the church are placed by the youth in a box on the altar to be blessed, then distributed to the needy for Thanksgiving
