Community Outreach Ministries

Chester Area Food Pantry: Wesley Memorial is involved in the collection of food items for the area food pantry. Although we collect donations at all times, the first Sunday of each month collection boxes are placed near the alter rail. 

Relay for Life: Each year Wesley supports a team for American Cancer Society's  Relay For life. The team is made up of Wesley members, along with volunteers, have various fundraisers, including garage sale, hot dog sale, donations for the all night walk, etc.

Local: Wesley's youth groups hold fundraisers to support various charities in the Chester area.

Salkehatchie Summer Service: Wesley members will participate in the Salkehatchie summer camp in Chester during the month of June. Methodist youth from all areas of South Carolina come to our county for a week of repairing and rebuilding homes for the needy. Wesley Men's Breakfast Club prepare breakfast every morning Monday through Friday, using kitchen facilities at Bethel UMC on York Street. Wesley UMW prepares lunch on Monday at Wesley. To learn more about the Salkehatchie Summer Service, visit their website. Surrounding United Methodist Churches prepare the other meals. Three meals a day is prepared for approximately 100 youth and adult volunteers. All adult volunteers working with Salkehatchie are required to have a criminal background check and be at least 21 years old. 

Wesley Memorial sends a team to a Salkehatchie camp in mid June each year.

Wallace Family Life Center: Wesley supports the Wallace Family Life Center in Bennettsville, SC by collecting Campbell's Soup labels and UPC product codes. Labels from products include all Campbell, Franco-American, and Pepperidge Farm, Box Tops for Education (General Mills Products). You may mail your labels directly to Wallace Family Life Center, PO Box 367, Bennettsville, SC 29512 or bring them to the Annual District Meeting. You may also give the labels, box tops, and UPC's to Betty Dickey.

Other Ministries: Wesley Memorial supports various other local, state, national, and international ministries of The United Methodist Church through our apportionments each year. These ministries includes World Services, Jurisdiction Mission/Ministry, Senior College Scholarships, Spartanburg Methodist College, Campus Ministry, Methodist Homes Residents Assistance, Camps/Retreat Ministry, Black College Fund, Africa University Fund, and Interdenominational Cooperation.
