The
Wesley Heritage Project, which resulted in OBRAS DE WESLEY, consists
of a three phase process as conceived and administered by the
Wesley Heritage Foundation:
Phase 1: The translation and
publication of the major works of John Wesley in 14 volumes. One
of these volumes, vol 9, includes many hymns composed by Charles
Wesley and translated for the first time in Spanish.
Phase
2: The Distribution of OBRAS DE WESLEY throughout the
Spanish-speaking world. This is being done by retail sales through
denominational bookstores and directly by the Wesley Heritage
Foundation. Also, through special agreements with autonomous churches
in the Wesleyan traditon, sets of OBRAS are being subsidized by
solicited Sponsors for subsidizing the distribution of OBRAS DE
WESLEY among pastors and schools whose economies do not enable
them to purchase the books at US retail prices.
Phase
3: This is an "in progress" phase whereby
funding is provided primarily for Hispanic scholarly initiatives
in Wesley Studies. The Wesley Heritage Endowment was funded to
insure the costs of the completion of the publication of OBRAS
DE WESLEY, and to generate earnings from the principal of the
Endowment to promote scholarship in Wesley Studies and advocate
the Wesleyan traditon of thought and spirituality.
