Turkey & Oyster Dinners
WGUMC serves all-you-can-eat turkey & fried oyster dinners on the second Saturday of March and the fourth Saturday of October every year. Regardless of whether you dine in or carry your dinner out, be sure to stop by the bake table for some extra goodies.
Summer Picnic
Community members are more than welcome to stop in on the last Sunday in July and join in the festivities of an old-fashioned church picnic. The day begins with an outdoor church service followed by a covered dish picnic luncheon. Games fill the afternoon, including a horseshoes tournament, Moon Bounce and children’s activities, and perhaps some other old-time favorites such as Bingo or relay games.
Fried Chicken & Ham Dinner
On the third Saturday of August, the dinner menu switches to country picnic fare featuring garden-fresh corn-on-the-cob, sliced tomatoes, and cucumber salad. Options for dining in or carrying out are both available, and of course don’t forget to visit that bake table!
Community Yard Sales
The United Methodist Women’s Evening Circle and the United Methodist Men join together to put on two community yard sales each year, on the second Saturday in May and a Saturday in September. Table space is available for rent to individuals, or the Evening Circle accepts donations of “treasures” to benefit the church. The men’s group serves breakfast and lunch throughout the day to add to shoppers’ enjoyment.
Holly Days Crafts Bazaar
Every November, the Evening Circle transforms the Education Building into a holiday wonderland filled with crafts made by church members and by local vendors (who can rent table space). Breakfast and lunch are available throughout the day, and the United Methodist Women’s daytime group offers a bake table laden with tasty treats.
