Kid's Day Out
Welcome to Wesley United Methodist Church and our "Kid's Day Out" program.
This program was established over 25 years ago as a way to reach out to the
parents and children of our community. We register children from ages six
months through kindergarten and offer them an opportunity to socialize with
other children and parents. We operate as a cooperative program and depend
on the involvement of our members. Each day consists of various activities
including: play for development of large motor skills, small group time,
songs, crafts, free play, and story time. We offer a snack and begin lunch
with a blessing.
Kid's Day Out is directed by Lori Preston & Linda Young, and our
phone number is (630) 355-1758. |

Co-oping
-
Each member must volunteer a half day per month. At registration you will
select a time and day of the month you wish to work. You will work the same
time and day each month. In return, your monthly balance will be reduced
by $10.00. If you work more than one shift, you will receive an additional
$10.00 reduction in your monthly balance for each extra shift you work. In
the event that there is a scheduled closing on your regular co-op shift,
you will be responsible for selecting an open date. You are responsible for
your shift once you have selected it. A phone list of all members will be
provided in case you need to trade shifts with another member or find a
replacement. Please notify the director of any date or time changes. During
your shift, you are to actively assist in activities and clean up. No charge
is incurred for your child to attend KDO during your shift.

Attendance
-
In compliance with section 2.10 of the Child Care Act, any child may attend
on an intermittent basis. Reservations are made monthly on a first come first
serve basis. If you must cancel a reservation, please cancel a morning
reservation by 9 pm the previous night and an afternoon reservation by 9
am that morning. This will allow us time to fill these vacancies with members
from the waiting list. If you fail to cancel on a timely basis, you will
be charged for that class. If you have not actively participated in the program
for two consecutive months and you have not contacted us, we will drop you
from the enrollment.
All registration and medical records must be completed, signed, and in our
files before your child will be permitted to attend class.
Upon arrival, please sign your child in, put on their name tag, and label
all personal belongings. When you pick up your child you must sign them out,
pick up any special projects, and take all personal belongings with you.
The day ends promptly at 2:00 pm
-
Food
-
We will provide a snack of juice and crackers. If you would like to bring
a snack to celebrate a special day, please feel free to do so. Your child's
teacher can provide you with information on an estimated amount and an
appropriate snack. If you child will be attending our afternoon session,
please provide a lunch. Send non-perishable and easy to manage food. Please
label all containers, lids, cups, etc.
-
Clothing
-
Send your child in wash and wear play clothes. We will be playing outdoors,
weather permitting, and a craft will be available. Please remember to send
a change of clothing. Also, send an ample supply of diapers for those children
that are not toilet trained.
-
Discipline
-
When discipline is necessary, we have found the most positive and effective
approach is to separate the child from the situation and redirect them.
-
Illness
-
This has always been a serious concern of KDO. Any child that has colored
drainage, fever, coughing, diarrhea, or is not feeling well is not to be
brought to KDO. If any of these conditions exist when the child is brought
to class, he/she will not be allowed to stay or we will call you to pick
up your child. If we are unable to reach you, we will contact someone from
your emergency listing to pick up the child. This protects your child as
well as other children from an illness. We also ask that you notify us if
your child becomes ill with a contagious disease such as chicken pox.
-
Licensing
-
We operate as a license exempt program registered with the Illinois Department
of Children and Family Services. We follow the guidelines set forth in the
Illinois Child Care Act. We are inspected regularly and have fire and health
clearance.
