empowered by faith, a
community under God, a
family united through Christ Jesus proclaiming
Christ to the world.
Vision
By responding to the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ, we
endeavor to create a vibrant community of all ages, that
gathers for inspiration and direction, and
reaches out to the world as
disciples in service and witness.
Long-term
Planning
Christ
Church has recently purchased a home at 15 Wellesley Avenue, adjacent
to the current parsonage. This property provides us with a wide
variety of options for the church's future - perhaps a new parsonage,
expanded parking, larger Sunday School facilities - the list is
endless.
We
are currently renting the home, and working together to plan for
the future this opportunity may bring for our congregation and our
Church as part of our Long-Term Planning Process.
First
Visit to Christ Church? What
to Expect!
At
Christ Church, we understand that visiting a new church for the
first time can be an uncomfortable experience since you're not sure
what to expect. So here are a few tips for you to make your first
visit an enjoyable one:
- Before
the Service - We have greeters at the door each Sunday morning
to say hello and provide you with a nametag. All of our members
also wear nametags - we think this encourages a more friendly
and intimate sense of community.
- Children
- We are happy to have infants and toddlers stay with their parents
during the service. However, childcare is available for those
who would be happier in our nursery. Children ages 3 and up participate
in the first 15minutes of worship, and then go to their Sunday
School classes after their story with the pastor.
- What
to Wear - Most of our members dress comfortably for worship, which
ranges from dresses to pants for the ladies, and suit and tie
to sweater and pants for the gentlemen.
-
Worship - Our worship consists of lifting our grateful praise to God through a blend
of contemporary and traditional worship practices. Scripture is read from
The Message, a contemporary reading of the Bible. Inclusive language
is used to refer to God and humankind. We have Open Hearts, Open Minds and
Open Doors, therefore, no person is excluded - all are persons of sacred worth.
- After
the Service - We join the children for coffee hour in the fireside
room outside the sanctuary. Throughout the year, there may also
be special services or fellowship events following worship. Check
our calendar to see what's scheduled
for the day you visit!

History
of Christ Church
The
history of Methodism in Wellesley dates to the early 1800's when
itinerant Methodist preachers traveled from congregation to congregation
in the area. The congregation in Lower Falls was founded in 1869,
and in 1889 the church, known as Perrin Memorial Methodist Church,
was built on Washington Road at the Lower Falls-Wellesley town line.
In the 1950's, the congregation purchased land in Wellesley, and
in 1962 they moved into their newly constructed building at 2 Brook
Street. Christ Church, United Methodist is one of nearly 600 churches
in the New England Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and
is part of the Central Massachusetts District.
