and with equity gives a verdict for the poor of the land.
His word is a rod that strikes the ruthless,
his sentences bring death to the wicked.
2 TIMOTHY 1:7
God's gift was not a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit
of power, and love, and self-control.
1 THESSALONIANS 5: 19 to 21
Never try to suppress the Spirt or treat the gift
of prophecy with contempt; think before you do any thing--hold on to what
is good
1 CORINTHIANS 3:16 and 17
Didn't you relise that you were God's temple and that the
Spirit
of God was living among you? If anybody should destroy the temple of God,
God will destroy him, because the temple of God is sacred; and you are
that temple.
2 CORINTHIANS 6:16 to 18
The temple of God has no common ground with idols, and that
is what we are--the temple of the living God. We have God's word
for it: "I will make my home among them and live with them; I will
be their God and they shall be my people." Then "come away from them and
keep aloof, says the Lord. Touch nothing that is unclean, and I will welcome
you and be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the
Almighty Lord."
Galatians 5:13 to 26
...My brothers, you were called,
as you know, to liberty; but be carful, or this liberty will provide an
opening for self-indulgence. Serve one another, rather, in works of love,
since the whole of the Law is summarised in a single command;"Love
your neighbour as yourself." If you go snapping at each other and tearing
each other to pieces, you had better watch or you will destroy the whole
community.
...Let me put it like this:
if you are guided by the Spirit you will be in no danger of yielding
to self-indulgence, since self-indulgence is the opposite of the Spirit,
the Spirit is totally agains such a thing, and it is precisely because
the two are so opposed that you do not always carry out your good intentions.
If you are led by the Spirit, no law can touch you. When self-indulgence
is at work the results are obvious: fornication, gross indecency and sexual
irresponsibility; idolatry and sorcery; feuds and wrangling, jealousy,
bad temper and quarrels; disagreements, factions, envy, drunkenness, orgies
and similar things. I warn you now, as I warned you before: those who behave
like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. What theSpirit
brings is very different: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control. There can be no law
against things like that, of course. You cannot belong to Christ Jesus
unless you crucify all self-indulgent passions and desires.
...Since theSpirit
is our life, let us be directed by theSpirit. We must
stop being conceited, provocative and envious.
Ephesians 6:17
And then you must accept salvation
from God to be your helmet and receive the word of God from the Spirit
to use as a sword.
