West Baltimore United Methodist Church's vision is to be an Acts 2 church -

Being and Making Disciples for Jesus Christ

Acts 2 congregations have these characteristics:

1. Spirit-filled – awakened to God’s presence and living like Christ (Acts 2:1-4).

2. Spirit-led – dependent on the guidance of the Holy Spirit to grow the body of Christ (Acts 2:14-22).

3. Practicing Christian community (Acts 2:41-47) – engaged in growing the congregation deeper, wide, and further in a life of faith that:

a. celebrates (Acts 2:42, 47) – engages the congregation and community in worship that inspires and magnifies God’s presence;
b. connects (Acts 2:42, 46) – builds lasting and significant relationships within the congregation;
c. develops – organizes study for the congregation and the community for sound theological insight and deeper faith;
d. serves (Acts 2:44-45) – engages worshipers in justice and mercy ministries in the community and around the world; and
e. shares (Acts 2:47) – trains and mobilizes the congregation for strategic witness and evangelism by worshipers.

4. Bearing Acts 2 fruit:

a. Transformed lives – receives new believers (Acts 2:47) through professions of faith (one new profession of faith per 25 worshipers each year) and engages believers in practicing faith;
b. Transformed congregation – grows worship attendance (Acts 2:41) (at least 2 percent growth each year or the percentage of the community growth plus 2 percent) and engages congregation in the world;
c. Transformed believers – 90 percent of the worshipers engaged in ministry and mission that is transforming the community and world (Acts 2:44-45);
d. Transformation that is God inspired and led – signs and wonders occurring through the congregation’s ministry (Acts 2:43).
