St. John’s has a committee of members who are interested in assisting other members in times of need. To us, this means assisting members and their families when there is a birth, injury, illness, death or any other event that affects a member. If you are interested in being a part of the We Care Committee, please complete our sign up sheet and email it to the church office at

On the fourth Sunday of every month, St. John's prepares and serves the evening meal to between 50 and 70 people at the Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen, located at Immanuel United Methodist Church on Moody Street in Waltham. Our traditional offering is Tater Tot Casserole (Recipe) and a tossed salad. Our Tater Tot Casserole is quite popular! If you would like to participate, please see Nan Decker.
We've a new weeknight prayer group for anyone who would like to attend. All are welcome! We hope to see you there!
The current film, The Bucket List, is based on the idea that there are things that all of us want to do before we die. This class isn't about that! It is about 14 weeks of conversations that could deepen our faith and undergird our individual journeys. We will look at 14 passages that are arguably key for understanding the Christian faith. Some of these passages will be from the Old Testament and some from the New. This will be a great opportunity for folks who have not been part of he adult class yet to join with others for these discussions. Please plan to join us! For more on this exciting class, see the following:
After six years as the District Superintendent of the Metro Hope District (and eight years total as a DS), Rev. Dr. Aida Fernandez has accepted an appointment as the Senior Pastor of Mathewson Street UMC in Providence, RI. Members of St. John’s and of all the churches in our District will have a chance to thank Aida and wish her well at this June celebration. Please put this date on your calendars, and speak to Mike if you want to be part of it.
Over one thousand delegates will be present during this annual meeting for all New England United Methodists. St. John’s will be represented by Rev. Mike Clark and Sue Carifio. Please see them if you have any questions.
Come join us and bring your appetite! Barbeque and picnic foods will be provided. This is a great opportunity before the summer gets into full swing to spend time with St. John’s folks!
Hope we'll see you soon at St. John's!
