Sunday SchoolWe have several Sunday School classes, for children and adults of all ages. Golden Rule ClassThis group of women of all ages encourages active participation in many ways. Individual class members plan an opening devotional segment which may include inspirational readings, prayer and music. The lesson (taken from standard United Methodist literature) follows, with an emphasis on class discussion. All women are welcome. Teacher - Dottie Crawford FaithbuildersA co-ed group who are growing in their faith and service to Christ. We use the Uniform Lesson Series as a basis for our studies. We have a strong prayer and support system for each other. Open dialogue is encouraged as we face the daily challenges of life. Teacher - Ann Mazingo Women of FaithWomen of Faith is a very "young" and energetic, loving class for women of all ages filled with the spirit of our living Lord, whom we sing and open our hearts to. We are using the Cokesbury Quarterly Bible Study. Lively discussions and laughter are enjoyed every Sunday. We pray for our sisters and brothers and have a prayer phone line with each other. All women are welcomed with a hug and smile from each member, and we thank our Lord and Savior for you. Teacher - Kitty Lippy Square Men's Bible ClassLessons from United Methodist Quarterly materials are presented, then followed by open, lively discussion among class members. Men of all ages are welcome. Teacher - Yogi Martin High School: Stepping StonesYoung men and women, of high school age and up, who are interested in learning together and growing together in Christian life, are invited to join this enthusiastic group. The Adult Bible Series literature provides weekly lessons, including questions which stimulate thoughtful discussion. Teachers - Scott and Kay Hoffman Junior HighElementaryKindergartenTeacher - Patsy Weigand Pre-Kindergarten ("WEE Care")A warm and welcoming atmosphere is established here. We meet anywhere from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Come in any time, early or late. (We know that, with children, getting out of the house in a timely fashion another day of the week is not always easy. We do not care what time you show up as long as you can come.) We welcome children as well as their parents, knowing all of the strains society places on working parents today - we allow parents to stay with their families as a therapeutic and relaxing time, taking all of the work and structured family pressures off you and giving them to the Lord and Barb Thurston for a few moments each week. (Although, the Lord should handle our problems all week and knowing Barb Thurston if it were possible to be on duty as much as the Lord is she would be, even with her children and grandchildren.) Parents may get more out of the class than the children while side bar conversations range from "We tried breast feeding, this is how we handled it" to "How did you get him to go on the potty" to "Can we borrow your bassinet for a couple weeks" and "Can you show me how to get barrettes to stay in my daughter's hair". Believe me this is a very welcomed class for families; both the parents and the infants. Barb does a great job every week with providing structured lessons, songs, and prayer.
