The Sunday School led our participation in OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD. This is a Christian relief project led by the evangelism organization, Samaritan's Purse. This unique project sends a message of hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes.  It gives everyone in our church the opportunity to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project that reaches out to needy children while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas- Jesus Christ, God's greatest gift.  In 1999, over 2.3 million shoeboxes were collected and they were distributed to children in 65 countries around the world.  We contributed 50 shoeboxes last year. Our goal this year was at least 50, which was reached. Our boxes were delivered to the Vassar Road Baptist Church on Sunday, November 19th, where they were happily received and  repacked into larger boxes for shipment around the globe.

Our boxes were part of 6788 shoeboxes received at this collection point for distribution.  Throughout the United States and Canada in 2000, over 4 million shoeboxes were collected and distributed in 70 countries.
