Wakarusa United Methodist Church - 1906
Our History:
The
history of our church reaches back to the Baubaugo Mission which was started in
1851. Church services were held in
the Pletcher barn.
The
church grew to the point that church services needed to be moved to the town
school. Until 1873, services were
held in the school.
In
1874, the first church was built. It
was 36 x 56 feet, and cost $2025 to complete.
In
1906, the present sanctuary was built. The
old church building was sold and moved to a farm south of town.
In
1973, the Sunday School addition was completed.
In
1997, the new front entrance was dedicated.
We
hope that you will be a part of our continuing history!
May we all be witnesses for Christ to the glory of God!
