Vernon United Methodist Church
Our Pastor
Rev. Roberta L. Williams

Meet Rev. Roberta Williams who was appointed pastor of Vernon United Methodist Church on July 1, 2007.

Rev. Williams grew up in the suburbs of Boston where her father was a UMC minister and her mother a teacher. She graduated from Brookline High School and went to Colorado Women's College in Denver. Her undergraduate degree is in World Religion and Art. In her senior year of college, she received an invitation to be a nanny in Munich, Germany. During her year in Munich she was involved in an English speaking church and had a call from God. She also had time to travel to many of the northern European countries. With less than three dollars in her pocket, she returned to Boston and worked at Boston University and Tanglewood as a cook.

Rev. Williams felt strongly led to attend United (Methodist) Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. She was ordained in The New England Annual Conference and has served five churches in the metro Boston South District from 1982-2005. She took a Voluntary Leave of Absence, taught at The Holyoke Charter School, counseled in shelters for teens, and worked in real estate. Rev. Williams enjoys children and youth. For ten years she took youth groups to NYC for Mission and Sightseeing! She looks forward to seeing how God is calling us to be in ministry at Vernon UMC.
