The Cock The crowing of the cock is a warning to Peter as to his steadfastness of faith and as a rebuke to his weakness. |

The Crown of Thorns
A mockery crown, symbol of humiliation and suffering, plaited by the soldiers and imposed upon Jesus during his trial before Pilate. |

IHS IHS are the first three letters of the greek spelling of Jesus. |
Dove
The dove expresses innocence and purity. It signifies the Holy Spirit and the presence of God as hovering over the water at creation, above Jesus and his baptism. |

Five Pointed Star
Symbol of the Epiphany, or revelation of the Christ Child to the Gentile wise men. |
The Eagle
The high-soaring eagle is the emblem of John because in his narrative he rises to the loftiest heights in dealing with the mind of Christ.

Wheat
Heads of wheat symbolize the Bread of Life (Mark 14:22). The cross standing on an orb represetns the Triumph of our Lord, or the Gospel. |

Luke is symbolized by the ox, the animal of sacrifice, since Luke stresses the atoning sacrifice of Jesus.
