Valley View UMC Staff
Dennis
Heffner has been the senior pastor at Valley View since 1977.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology
from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio and his Masters of Divinity
degree from United theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
In 1982 this church helped him receive his Doctor of
Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary, which is located
in Chicago, Illinois. His specific focus was on parish revitalization.
In addition to his duties at Valley View, he serves
as Executive Director of Northern New Mexico Group Ministry as well
as Director of Amigos del Valle. He serves as the treasurer of the Española
Valley Ministerial Alliance, an ecumenical association of local churches.
In 1977 Dennis married Dee Dee Krumm, the daughter
of an Evangelical United Brethren pastor. Dee Dee is deeply involved
in education at McCurdy School in Espanñola, NM. They have three
children, Todd, Heidi, and Andrew. Their children have blessed them
with four grandsons.
Elizabeth
Garcia has been the office manager/secretary for Valley View for twenty-eight
years this coming May 1, 2009. She also serves in this capacity for
the Northern New Mexico Group Ministry and for Amigos del Valle (the
senior adult in-home ministry), all on a part time basis!
Liz grew up in Espanola, is married to Benny Garcia
(who works in Los Alamos), has two children, and two grandchildren.
Paul and Stephanie (her daughter) live in Espanola with their two children,
Dylan and Kylie. Jason Garcia is the general manager of a Gold’s
gym in Las Vegas, Nevada.
We are very fortunate to have her energy and office
skills to keep our church office in efficient working order. She is
a well trusted member of our church staff who offers so much to our
church ministry.
Carol
Hughes and her husband, Dan, moved from Louisiana to the Espanola Valley
in 1979, and reside in LaPuebla. Carol has had a long career as a Clinical
Laboratory Scientist, but in recent years has changed professions and
works in Nuclear and Radiochemistry at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Carol and Dan have one daughter, Stephanie, who lives
in Oklahoma City.
Carol plays the organ and keyboard for the church. She
and Dan often provide special music for services. Carol plays the keyboard
and sings while Dan plays the guitar and sings. Their musical talent
is greatly appreciated by the church.
Lois
Johnson is a native New Mexican, born and raised in Albuquerque, NM.
She studied violin (and played in the youth orchestra), piano at Jefferson
Music School and organ. She taught piano lessons for many years.
She is married to Don Johnson and they have two daughters.
Lois has been a member of Valley View for over 40 years
and has been playing the organ and piano for the church for over 30
years. She also sings in the church choir.
Larry
Heacock is a retired, United Methodist Minister. He was a preacher in
the New Mexico Conference of the United Methodist Church for 38 years
prior to retiring. He presently serves as part-time parish visitor for
Valley View UMC. He spends Wednesdays in Espanola visiting those in
the hospital, nursing home, and home bound.
Larry was raised in west Texas, is married to Jeannie
and they have a son living in the Seattle area with his wife and two
sons, and a daughter in Los Alamos with her husband and daughter.
Joyce
