“My house shall
be called a house of prayer.” Matthew 21:13
Prayer is an important part of all ministry
at Valley View UMC. We believe prayer to be a vital part of
the life of the church and the life of individuals.
Valley View UMC has Sunday morning Pre-service
Prayer during which the pastor and staff meet prior to the worship
services. All are welcomed to participate.
There is also a prayer telephone tree. When
there are special prayer requests the word goes out to all those
on the telephone tree and they pray for those in need.
Lenten Prayer - During the lenten season, people
are asked to pray for others, the church, the state, the nation
and the world at noon (or close) each day. There is a theme
for each week based on the week's lenten theme:
- Forgiveness: Tender Redeemer, knowing that
you forgive me, may I leave my troubles and guilt at your
feet and learn to forgive myself.
- Prayer: Almighty god, never let me forget
that my prayers are beautiful conversations with my best friend,
and that they are the source of light in my life.
- Loneliness: Heavenly Father, may I put away
the loneliness of my own making, and walk on Your path of
faith, hope, and love.
- Love: Dear Lord, may I love others just
the way that you love me--honestly, completely, and without
judgment. Help me remember that I too am worthy of your love.
- Healing: Divine Healer, may I understand
that pain and sorrow are really opportunities for You to enter
my life and walk next to me.
- Hope: God of light, may I put my faith and
hop in your hands, and know that You and Your love are the
hope of the world.
- Joy: Dear God, may the joy in my heart and
soul be lasting reflections of Your grace, Your Son's love,
and my faith.
Please join us at noon each day lifting our
prayers to God.
