Valley View Missions in Northern New Mexico

Crisis Center Food Bank McCurdy Northern NM Ministry Sewciables Scholarships Snack Packs Street People

Valley View is involved with many mission projects in Northern New Mexico. For more information about these projects, please click the link. If you have the time and talent to help, please contact Valley View to further discuss these opportunities.

Amigos del Valle--is a community wide project providing services to senior adults who wish to remain independent within their own homes. Services include care providers who organize needed transportation and provide food and/or firewood delivery, shopping assistance and other no-cost in-home services. Valley View Church provides financial support, office space, telephone and secretarial services. Additionally, the Valley View pastor serves as coordinator, advisor, and administrator of the program.

Crisis Center of Northern New Mexico - provides a variety of professional services to victims of violent crimes. It also provides a safe shelter to victims, and their children, of domestic violence and/or sexual assault in an effort to stop the cycle of violence.

Food Bank - Valley View has a food bank which supplies bags of food sufficient for two people. These are given to people on an as-needed basis. Needed supplies are listed on the link.

McCurdy School - McCurdy is a project of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church and receives support in many ways from Valley View UMC.

Northern NM Group Ministry - Valley View is pleased to share with and support the ministries of Alcalde, El Rito, Santa Cruz, Taos, Velarde, and Española United Methodist churches. Valley View's pastor is the director of this ministry.

Sewciables - was started by the United Methodist Women as part of a national quilt project called "Prayers and Squares." They make hand made quilts and present them to newborns, as well as ill children and adults.

Snack Packs of Food-- are backpacks with imperishable food provided each week during the school year for elementary children who would have no food to eat on the weekends.
These backpacks go to students in schools in the communities of Hernandez, San Juan, and Chimayo. This year Valley View is providing 22 snack packs a week. This program has been a great success because of all the help from the members.

Student Scholarships - there are two scholarship funds supported by the members of our church--the Don Winchell scholarship and the Educational Scholarship.

Street People Ministries - there is a five gallon jar in which members put all the pennies they have received. This money/gift certificates are personally taken to street people in the area.
