We are University United Methodist Church!

Vision

We have a vision of where we want to go and what we want to be.

Our history and building

We have a long and proud history and a beautiful church building with inspiring stained glass windows.

But our people are what makes us special!

Our people ARE University United Methodist Church

We come in all colors, shapes, backgrounds, and ages. We come from the city, the suburbs, as well as the Syracuse University community of faculty, staff, and students.

Come join us and discover the richness of worshipping and serving with people from all backgrounds and all walks of life!

We have a staff of dedicated people

Reverend Marilyn N. Wolfe

While studying at the Colgate Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, Rev. Wolfe served as a Pastoral Visitor here for three years. Rev. Wolfe comes to us this time from East Syracuse, where she was the Pastor of Collamer United Church for six years.

Rev. Wolfe holds bachelor's and master's degrees in English in addition to her Master of Divinity, and has taught English and writing to students at all levels from seventh grade through college.

She is a member of the Steering Committee and Chairperson of the Leadership and Training Committee for ACTS (Alliance of Communities Transforming Syracuse) and has served on the Domestic Violence Coalition's InterReligious Task Force since 1995.

Rev. Wolfe is married to the The Rev. Dr. Thomas V. Wolfe, who is Dean of Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University. They have two daughters, Erin and Kimberly. In her spare time, she enjoys sailing, writing, cooking, remodeling, and playing piano, drum, and guitar.

The Rev. Edwin A. Potter, Assistant Pastor

A native of the north country, Potter served as a UM pastor for more than 40 years, leading six parishes and working as a district superintendent (a supervisory and pastoral role) in the Utica area. Since retirement in 1998 until Summer 2003, he had been filling in at churches in Central New York.

Potter holds degrees from Syracuse University and Drew Theological School. He loves listening to music and attending classical music concerts. And sometime you might catch him playing piano, ringing handbells or making melodies on the recorder.

He and his wife of 47 years, Lee, make their home in Dewitt. They have raised four daughters and now enjoy five grandchildren.

... and other people who help make things happen!
