We are in fellowship with each other. Come join us!

Youth fellowship

There are youth events for the combined junior and senior high youth, for junior high only and for senior high only.

Mission Trip to New York City

The Youth Group participated in a number of projects to raise funds for their Project Hospitality mission trip to New York City which took place July 1-7, 2001.

Annual Musical

The Disciples Choir and our other teens put on a yearly musical. This is always a  treat for the congregation, but also a wonderful fellowship experience for the participants.

Women's groups offer fellowship and provide service

Our women's groups provide fun, fellowship, and a chance to learn about important issues.

Altar Guild

This guild provides flowers for each week's worship service, as well as Easter lilies, memorial begonias and Christmas poinsettias.

Gertrude Brown Guild

Organized in 1927, this guild holds luncheon meetings on the third Friday of each month in January through December, except in June, July, and August. The meetings are held at members' homes, at the church, and at The Nottingham.

Evening Guild

Organized in 1982 to provide an opportunity for women to meet who are not available during the daytime. This guild meets from 7:30 - 9:00 PM on the third Wednesday of each month for a program and fellowship.

K-Groups

What's a K-Group? "K" stands for Koinonia or fellowship. A K-Group is a group of people who have a commitment to gather in fellowship. Each K-Group has its own unique structure which meets the expressed desires and needs of its members. UUMC currently has five K-Groups, some of which have existed for decades.

Spirit Film - Finding Spirituality in the Movies

Could God use filmmakers to underscore important messages for people of faith? Some UUMC members think so and they're part of Spirit Film. All are welcome to attend and the group changes month to month. People see a designated film sometime during that week or as a group on Saturday. Then they'll gather at a member's home to discuss the film over dessert or a light supper.

The group tends to go on hiatus from time to time so please call the church office at 475-7277 to find out the designated movie.

And there are other happenings . . .

Annual Advent Dinner

A great potluck dinner. Kids trim the tree and the UUMC Pickup Band provides the music. Bring your instrument and join the band! If you don't play an instrument, jingle the bells for our traditional Jingle Bells song.

Annual Church Picnic

We always have a wonderful time at our church picnic which is held at one of our beautiful county parks. There's shelter available, but the weather has always been beautiful so far!

... and we can learn and grow at our United Methodist Camps

These camps aren't just for young people, and they're not just for summer! They're important fellowship and "re-creation" opportunities, but they also provide wonderful opportunities for spiritual growth. The camps are especially popular in the summer, but events are held all year long for all age groups.

We have two camps available to us: Casowasco and Aldersgate, each with its own unique qualities. Members and friends of our church have attended both, and each camp is listed as a favorite by individuals in the congregation.

Casowasco is a camp, conference and retreat center owned and operated by the North Central New York Conference of the United Methodist Church. The facility is open to churches, educational groups, and other nonprofit organizations without regard to religious affiliation. In addition to providing facilities for groups to conduct their own retreats, meetings, worship services, and programs, they can assist with program planning and provide supervision for recreation activities. In the summer months (Mid June to Mid August) they operate as a Christian youth camp. Casowasco is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. It is easily accessible from Rt. 81 and State Rt. 90. Casowasco is just off of Rt. 38. They are on the web at www.casowasco.org

Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center is a ministry of the United Methodist Churches of the North Central New York Conference. Aldersgate is an outreach of 425 churches, providing programs and places for the purpose of Christian education and spiritual birth, growth, and renewal.

The Camp and Retreat Center is a year-round facility available for rent to groups of all kinds, including church, civic and nonprofit organizations. Named after Aldersgate Street in London, England, Aldersgate’s mission is to provide a place where folks can experience the power of God’s redeeming love for themselves. Nestled in the Adirondack foothills, Aldersgate is located in Brantingham, NY just inside the Adirondack Park border. They are on the web at www.AldersgateNY.org
