The Rev. Dr. Ardella Johnson was born the oldest of nine children in Grenada, Mississippi.  The granddaughter of a Methodist minister, Rev. Johnson was brought up in a Christian family and was raised in the both the Methodist and Presbyterian traditions.  She has a great love for learning and an extensive education background in social science, biblical counseling and Christian education. Sent away to school at the age of five, Rev. Johnson received her early childhood education in East St. Louis, Illinois and Greenwood, Mississippi.

After being ordained in the Presbyterian church in 1989, Rev. Johnson spent some time as an evangelist .  Having remained in the Presbyterian church, She came to Union Memorial a few years ago at the urging of her daughter. 

Rev. Johnson served as an associate pastor at Union Memorial and Shaw Avenue United Methodist Church. She is also the mother of five children.
