Aurora District Spring Meeting - April 30, 2011

John Wesley found in 1 John “the sum of the whole Gospel, ‘We love Him, because He first loved us.’” We invite you to join Aurora District United Methodist Women for our Spring meeting on Saturday, April 30, 2011. We are fortunate to welcome Roger Curless as our leader as we explore the Epistles of John. The book For the Love of God – The Epistles of John has been the spiritual growth focus study this year and Roger Curless has served as leader for School of Christian Mission in the Northern Illinois Conference last summer as well as in January. The study focuses on the Epistles as God’s Word to us today. The Epistles call readers to love and joy as they emphasize the grounding of the Gospel in the very nature of God. Bring your Bible and the study book if you have one.

We thank the women of Community UMC in Naperville for hosting our Spring Meeting. The church is located in downtown Naperville at 20 N. Center St., Naperville 60540, phone 630-355-1483. Please join us for a morning of fellowship, reflection, inspiration and worship. Everyone is welcome. Bring your whole unit, your pastor, your friends and neighbors.

Your $5 registration is needed by April 23. Find the registration form here.

Chicago NW District Domestic Violence Workshop - May 21, 2011

United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men of the Chicago Northwestern District are teaming to present a workshop on Domestic Violence on May 21, 2011. This is the first of many workshops that will be sponsored and hosted by United Methodist Women and Men in the Northern Illinois Conference.

We as the church are a voice for the voiceless. We must speak out against abuse and help survivors find safe and secure places. The United Methodist Church affirms the sacredness of all persons. In these workshops we are providing education and information for the laity on abuse prevention, detection, and intervention.

Join us on Saturday morning, May 21, at Central United Methodist Church in Skokie and help make this event one that you won't forget. We will hopefully change, improve and save lives of women, men, children and youths.
