Program Resources

Do you all feel the anticipation in the air as we approach both the Annual Conference meeting and the District Annual meetings?  As Secretary of Program Resources I am looking forward to the new resources that will soon be coming out. The new program book, the Prayer Calendar, reading list books and other resources should be available in time for our annual meetings.  I have had a sneak peak at the 2010 Reading List and there are some wonderful titles included for next year.

There are a lot of valuable resources that all UMW members should be aware of on the UMW Online Community website: http://umwonline.org. You never know what you might find when you log on—worship resources, news items, Power Point presentations, questions with answers about how to improve your  UMW meetings, skits, devotions, and much more. The website changes constantly, so keep checking for new information.

I recently discovered on the website some additional resources for the Food and Faith study. This is a link that lists Bible verses mentioning food:http://umwonline.org/faith.  Another link that explores the spiritual dimension of eating food is: http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umw/foodfaith

Now is the time to take advantage of a special opportunity for Reading Program members—the chance to participate in an online “Book Club” in the UMW Online Community.   Over the next several months there will be discussions over the following books on the 2009

Reading List: They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky, Why, Hard Line, and What Keeps Me Standing?  The first live chat will take place on August 29th.

If you haven’t had a chance to read these books, now would be a good time to do it.  Then join other UMW women from around the country for a lively online discussion.   I am looking forward to seeing you at our annual meeting in Newton. Stop by the Resource Room, say hello, and check out our new 2010 resources.
