A Word from our President
"Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God." Hebrews 13-16
What a summer UMW has had.
June: Forty-one young ladies and six sponsors boarded the bus in Wichita to travel to the northeast, experiencing and doing Mission work. These girls are eager and willing to share their experience with units. If your unit did not send a girl, there is likely one close that went, so check with your District Youth Activities person for name and address and give them the opportunity to share their joy and experience of their trip.
July: 106 adults 23 children and 8 youth attended the School of Missions in Salina. One grandmother brought seven grandchildren to the school. WOW! Look for the picture in “Response” magazine, October or November issue. Wonderful studies, teachers, fellowship with old friends, making new friendships, and life in the dorm. You will eat and think very differently about Food and Faith after studying this book, excellent study. Thursday night the food staff prepared a wonderful Sudanese meal for us that was delicious. If you were not there, we missed you and now you have a second chance, Mini School at Lakeside, October 2-3. This is a beautiful time at the camp and time to see the wonderful new kitchen-dining hall and refurbished Lodge and Baker Cabin.
August: Conference Executive Board met in Great Bend and held a training session for the District officers and coordinators.
Our Annual Meeting will be September 18-19 at Newton Salem UMC in Newton. Come join us for a fun evening on the 18th. Dinner will be served from the Hutchinson Food Trailer followed by music and program, "Railroad: Track with Christ", by Rev. Ron Lowry. Remember Newton is known for the railroad. This meeting is for all UMW members and friends, Local, District and Conference. This is your "Business Meeting.
You can see your Conference staff is very busy serving you. We are here to help in any way we can. We travel, visit, answer questions or will find the answer if we don't know it. It is a joy and privilege to be the President of Kansas West Conference UMW.
Grace and Peace.......................................Thelma
